Amber D. McClain, 42 of Ashland passed away, Tuesday, March 26, 2019 in her home.
She was born on November 4, 1976 to Christopher L. and Melinda (nee Elliott) Stackhouse.
Amber graduated from Ashland High School, Class of 1995. She went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree from the Ohio State University in Sociology.
She married John J. McClain on June 27, 2001.
Throughout her life, Amber was a true artist; enjoying pottery and floral gardening. She was an accomplished violinist and well versed in several languages. In her earlier years, Amber coached ladies’ soccer and played powder puff football. Amber always had a servants heart for her canine companions.
She is survived by her husband of 17 years, John McClain of Ashland; her mother, Melinda “Mindy” (Jimmy) Reef of Ashland; her father, Christopher Stackhouse of Ashland; two daughters, Melia Stackhouse of Dover and Alena (Orlando) Diaz of Grand Prairie, Texas; fours sons, Christian Stackhouse of Ashland, Lliiam McClain of Ashland, John (Holly) McClain Jr. of Newport News, Virginia, and Dustin (Heidi) McClain of Quantico, Virginia; seven grandchildren, Makaela, Hunter, Landen, Bella, Myles, Zachary, and Elizabeth; one sister, Kimberly (Kurt) Krueger of Ashland; and five brothers, Michael Reef, Jamie (Amy) Reef, Joe (Peter) Reef, Daniel (Rachel) Stackhouse, and Christopher (Emerald) Stackhouse all of Ashland.
Amber is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Clark and Miriam Elliott; her paternal grandparents, David and Ann Stackhouse; and two aunts, Debra Overmyer and Kimberly Rose.
Celebration of Life services will be held Friday, March 29, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the Calvary Baptist Church, 210 Davis Road, Ashland, Ohio 44805 with Reverend Harry Strachan officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ashland County Humane Society, 1710 Garfield Avenue, Ashland, Ohio 44805.
