Joseph F. Kollar, 97 of Ashland passed away, Saturday evening, September 28, 2019 in Brookwood Place at Brethren Care Village.
Joseph was born in Cleveland to John and Katherine (nee Scoppa) Kollar, the youngest of three children. While at Camp Crowder in Missouri, he met Oleta B. Cowherd whom me married on August 14, 1942.
He served for three years in Europe during WWII and was honorably discharged in 1945. In civilian life, Joseph owned several businesses in the Cleveland area. He also worked as a butcher for Heinen’s and retired in 1984.
He and Oleta then moved to Florida where they spent an active 18 years. Later they relocated to Albuquerque, NM to live near their only child, William C. Kollar. In 2007 the Kollars moved to Ashland.
In addition to his wife of 77 years, he is survived by his grandson, William Joseph (Doris) Kollar; and great-grandsons, Kristopher Andrew and James Edward Kollar.
Joseph is preceded in death by his sister, Palma Sferry; brother John Kollar; and his son, William C. Kollar.
Interment will be with his family in Missouri.
