William "Bill" W. Wickiser, 92, of Ashland, Ohio passed away December 25,
2019 following a brief illness.

He was the son of the late Wesley V. and Laura M.(Schanzenbach) Wickiser
and was born in Cleveland, Ohio.

Surviving are his wife of 63 years Dagmar (Dommie) A.(Laser) Wickiser of
Ashland, children Laurann K. Brown (Frank A. Shoemaker) of Okemos
Michigan, Andrew W. Wickiser of Bowling Green, Ohio, and Joni L. Rognon
of Lansing Michigan. Also surviving are grandchildren Ashley Brown of

In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by sister Ella M.
Ridlon, and brother Robert W. Wickiser.

He grew up in the village of Savannah, Ohio, where his parents owned and
ran a general store. He maintained contact with many of those he grew up
with in Savannah though out his life.

He served in the U.S. Army during the immediate post-WWII time frame.

Bill attended Ashland College and earned a degree in History.
Bill was a career employee of the Ohio Department of Transportation,
District 3, Ashland, Ohio and was proud of the many roadbuilding and
bridge decking projects he was involved with over the years.

He was an avid reader of the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times,
with a keen interest in current affairs. His hobbies included
photography, fishing, hunting, and competitive shooting. Bill loved a
good story and enjoyed talking to folks, almost as much as he loved a
great bargain.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Contributions in
remembrance of Bill may be made to a charity of choice.

Bill, Dommie and I have been friends since 1980. Bill liked to read about and ponder all sorts of things. I introduced him to a particular brand of Irish tea, and it became a favorite of his. Many times when the conversation was slowing down, Bill would offer a humorous story or comment to lighten the mood. Years ago when this happened, he disappeared for a few minutes. He returned with his battery operated chicken. The chicken walked and squawked. I don't recall the conversation, but I have never forgotten how
much we laughed at the chicken! Those who knew Bill will miss him for years to come. My sincere sympathy is sent to every member of his family. Keep fond memories of Bill - he'd appreciate it!

Mrs. Wickiser,

My husband worked with Bill at the state for many years. I just wanted to you know that I was thinking about you in your moment of sorrow and the loss of your husband.
