Vicki’s sojourn began on June 17, 1950, at Cleveland’s Lutheran Hospital, born to her beloved parents John P. and Getta J. (Jensen) Elliott. She was a graduate of Bay High School and Kent State University, earning the degree of Bachelor of Science in Education. A lifelong educator and learner, Vicki retired from teaching after 38 impactful years, having taught in Northeast Ohio before planting roots in Ashland, where she was the Director of her own preschools.
Vicki’s imagination was a view into the depth and beauty of her heart. She was the proud creator of Hittyville, a magical world where her dolls and dreams coexisted and all were welcome. Her reverence for animals was manifested in the menagerie of creatures that roamed her homestead—Windy Ridge Farm.
Vicki was an avid reader, her favorite books being the Betsy-Tacy series, among so many others. Her spirituality was a guiding force in her life, where she always sought mindfulness and peace. She was a talented artist who could imagine visions and vistas that were uniquely her own. Above all, Vicki was the rock of her family and her greatest legacy will be the unshakable and eternal love she had for her husband, children, and grandson.
Vicki is survived by her husband of 32 years, Joseph Miller, to whom she was married April 11, 1987. One daughter, Brooke (Scott) McGaffick of Ashland; One son, Noah (Amy) Carlson and grandson Abe Carlson of Cleveland. Three sisters; Cassi (Pat) Foran of Bay Village, Kate Coleman of Avon Lake, Missy (Scott) Shafer of Murfreesboro, TN. One brother, John (Corey) Elliott of Bay Village; One uncle, Peter (Lynn) Jensen of Westlake, and several beloved nieces and nephews.
Per Vicki’s wishes, there will be no formal services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Vicki’s honor to the Ashland County Humane Society; P.O. Box 114, Ashland, OH 44805.
