Gerry D. Strouse, 65, of West Salem, passed away unexpectedly Thursday evening, April 16, 2020 at University Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio.

Gerry was born in Ashland, Ohio on July 9, 1954 to the late Raymond E. and Leatrice W. (Knapp) Strouse. He had been a resident of Ashland County his entire lifetime. He was a graduate of Ashland High School class of 1972.
He had worked at Home Hardware in Ashland for 15 years and more recently in the production department of Premium Building Products in West Salem, Ohio.
He attended the West Salem United Methodist Church. He was a volunteer for the Mapleton High School Band helping the members with the transportation of their instruments to other schools during the football season. He was also an artist having made designs and back drops for Grace Brethren Church in Homerville and the Red Haw United Methodist Church.
His hobbies including Arts and Crafts, baking and decorating cakes and working on model cars.
On October 16, 1976 Gerry was married to Rita F. Funk and they celebrated 43 years of marriage last October.
He is survived by his wife, Rita F. Strouse of West Salem, his daughter, Rebekah M. (Kyle) Pinches of Pendleton, IN; his son, Dana J. (Lisa) Strouse of Orrville, OH; two granddaughters, Alaina and Amelia Strouse; his sister, Vicki Sorrell of Idaho and his brother, Dale E. (Marilyn) Strouse of Cottage Grove, WI.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother-in-law, Archie Sorrell and a niece, Lisa Lane.
Private services for the immediate family will be held on Monday, April 20, 2020 with the Rev. Layton Broome officiating. A public service, celebrating Gerry’s life will be announced at a later date.
