Alice L. Davis, 101 of Ashland passed away on Thursday afternoon, April 23, 2020 in her home.
She was born on June 27, 1918 in Ashland County, the daughter of the late Leroy and Grace (nee Stillwagon) Gongwer.
Alice graduated from Hayesville High School, Class of 1936. She married the love of her life, Joseph Davis on November 9, 1942.
She was a devoted member of Trinity Lutheran Church and an associate member of Zion Lutheran in Huron. Alice was a member of the Eastern Star #92 and past member of White Shrine and the Emblem Club. She was a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary, V.F.W. and Amvets Post 96. Alice was one of the original founders of Dale Roy School.
Alice is survived by one grandson, William Dean Davis.
In addition to her parents, Alice is preceded in death by her husband of 48 years Joseph Davis who passed away on November 19, 1990; two sons, Joseph Roy Davis and William Davis; one sister, Dorothy Sutherland; and two brothers, Richard and Russell Gongwer.
An interment service will be held, Thursday, April 30, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in the Ashland Cemetery with Reverend Michael Koch officiating. Given our current situation an extended time has been provided for family and friends to pay their respects to Alice. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home at your leisure. We will process to the cemetery at 1:45 p.m. from the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 508 Center Street, Ashland, Ohio 44805.
