Arlene L. McWilliams, 97, went to be with her Lord on Thursday evening, July 9, 2020 at Kingston of Ashland, with her loving family by her side.

Arlene was born on August 8, 1922 in Lodi, Ohio to the late Virgil P. and Dana Norene (Handwerk) Kline. She moved from Congress, Ohio to the Savannah area when she was 8 years old. She was a graduate of Savannah High School class of 1940.

She met the love of her life, John L. McWilliams, and the couple were married on January 20, 1945. She was a loving wife, stay at home mother of four children, and an extremely proud grandmother. She was known for being an amazing cook and baker, making countless of her famous chocolate chip cookies, and providing communion bread for many Sunday Services. She enjoyed knitting, crossword puzzles, and helping with chores around the farm, but most importantly, she loved spending time with her family. She will be remembered for being incredibly kind, having a contagious smile, and always welcoming others into her home.

Arlene was faithful in following the scriptural principals of Jesus Christ and expressing that love and compassion to others. She was a member of the Christ Community Evangelical Free Church in Savannah, and a previous member of the former Savannah Presbyterian Church.

Arlene was reunited with her beloved husband of 43 years, John. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Midge Cooke; a grandson Seth McWilliams and a daughter in law, Rena Prichard.

She is survived by three children, Mickie McWilliams of Ashland, Mike (Kay) McWilliams of Bailey Lakes, and Mitch McWilliams of Shiloh; five grandchildren, Jamie McWilliams, Shane (Kesha) McWilliams, Carey (Tanya) Cooke, Mandi (Brandon) Campbell, and Casey (Kelly) Cooke. Additionally, she has 11 great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

A private service will be held Saturday, July 25, 2020 at the Christ Community Evangelical Free Church with the Rev. Jerry Mitchell officiating. A public celebration of life will be scheduled and announced at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Christ Community Evangelical Free Church, 1272 Co. Rd. 758, Ashland, Ohio 44805.

Mickie, Mike, Mitch and family,
What a true blessing and very special lady your mom was and will always be remembered as such. Sam thought of her as a second mom and you kids as sisters and brothers. I know Sam was standing in line to welcome her "home." She never aged.
The last time I saw her, she was as sharp and spunky as always. May her life and values continue to guide her family.
Thoughts and prayers. Love, Sheila Chronister

I praise God for bringing Arlene into my life. She stole my heart with her personality and smile. She encouraged me to become even closer to God. She was a great friend, and I miss her a lot. But I know exactly where she is, and I look forward to seeing her again. My love, my prayers and my thoughts are with her family. God be with all of you. -- Tim Johnson

We were neighbors of the McWilliams family in Bailey Lakes during the 1950’s-1960’s. What fun all of us kids had together and Arlene never seemed to mind that so many of us congregated at their house to play hide and seek or just ride our bikes on their long driveway. Arlene was always jolly and quick with a laugh. I last saw her just a few years ago at the county fair - she didn’t miss out on anything. What an amazing lady who will be truly missed by all who knew her. Hugs to Mickie, Mike, and Mitch.

My thoughts and prayers go out to this wonderful family. Arlene was a wonderful loving woman and she will always be close to my heart. I'll never forget that beautiful smile and her singing Christian songs to me before I helped her to bed. She will definitely be our angel watching over us. Love you all and God bless. R.I.P my sweet angel. Melinda Lasley @ Kingston
