Betty Cherry Harris Gault, 85, of Ashland and formerly of Rock Hill, South Carolina, passed away Monday, September 21, 2020 at Brookwood Place in Ashland.
She was born October 10, 1934 in Rock Hill, South Carolina, the daughter of the late Willie P. and Bessie Mae (Whitaker) Cherry.
Betty had been employed at the Giant Store in Ashland for 10 years and retired from Bank One.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Ashland where she served on the Altar Guild, was a member of Women’s Ministries, the Reception Committee and helped in the church kitchen. Throughout her life, Betty enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family.
Betty was married to Norman D. Gault who survives her. She is also survived by a daughter, Cheryl (Chuck) Price of Ashland; one son, Dale (Kim) Harris of Knoxville, Tennessee; two step daughters, Dana Jones and Lora (Jeff) Hardman both of Ashland; one step son, Greg (Beth) Gault of Ashland; four grandchildren, Holly (Stan) Drozdowski, Kristi Price, Travis (Wendy) Harris and Kyle (Joni) Price; 5 Step Grandchildren, Nathan (Stephanie) Jones, Ashlie (Tim) Wilmetti, Lyndsey (Chad Rowland) Gault, Brittany (Paul) James and Whitney (Noah) Jones; and 15 great grandchildren, Haley, Skyler, and Corbin Price, Jenna Harris, Adam Harris, Talon Drozdowski, Tayce Drozdowski, Kenadi Drozdowski, Emma Jones, Ila Jones, Gray Jones,, Emma, Kayla, Leah Wilmetti and Oakley James; two sisters, Sylvia Christie of Rock Hill, South Carolina and Diane Parker of York, South Carolina; and one brother, Wayne (Jane) Cherry of Chester, South Carolina.
In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by three sisters, Ollie (Robert) Turner, Catherine Harris, and Helen Collins; and two brothers, Johnny and Sonny Cherry.
Funeral services will be held, Saturday, September 26, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in the Trinity Lutheran Church, 508 Center Street, Ashland, Ohio 44805 with Reverend Michael Koch officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the church. Interment will be in the Ashland County Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 508 Center Street, Ashland, Ohio 44805.
