Kay F. Spreng, 77, of Ashland, passed away Wednesday afternoon, November 25, 2020 at her residence with her family by her side, following a courageous 10 month battle with cancer.

She was born March 21, 1943 in Medina, Ohio the daughter of the late Ernest and Frances (Morlock) Kaszian. She was a graduate of Medina High School class of 1961.
She retired from the F.E. Myers/Pentair Company where she worked in the Data Processing Department.
Kay was an active member of the Stone Evangelical Lutheran Church. She volunteered at the University Hospital Samaritan Medical Center where she helped in the Gift Shop. She enjoyed traveling with family and friends, reading, walking and exercising, shopping and having lunch with her girlfriends.
On June 26, 1981 Kay was married to John L. Spreng who preceded her in death on March 12, 2009. She is survived by her son, Michael Newcomer (Phillip Biddinger) of Ashland; a stepson, John N. (Carol) Spreng of Pataskala; 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; her sister, Susan (Larry) Funk of Lafayette, OH; two brothers, Richard (Phyllis Parker) Kaszian of Lafayette, OH and David (Debbie) Kaszian of Strongsville; a sister-in-law, Viki Kaszian of Parma Heights, OH; and her special friend, Diane Morris of St. Augustine. FL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John L. Spreng; a son, Mark C. Newcomer and a brother, Ronnie Kaszian.
A time of remembrance and refreshments will be held on Monday, December 14, 2020 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Legacy Room of the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home followed by a service celebrating Kay’s life at 7:00 p.m. in the main chapel of the funeral home officiated by Rev. Miguel Acosta. Kay will be laid to rest with her Husband John at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
