Michael Craig Hurst, 66 of Ashland passed away, Sunday, January 17, 2021 in Good Shepherd Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born on September 1, 1954 in Ft. Knox, Kentucky, as his father, Cliff Hurst, served in the U.S. Army.
Mike is the son of Cliff and Sylvia (Groff) Hurst. He grew up in Ashland, graduated from Ashland High School, worked at Ashland University and D-R Services. He was an avid sports fan of all sports and in January of 2000 was awarded the title “Ashland’s Number One Fan” and given a lifetime pass to any home athletic event. Mike and his father attended 30+ years of high school football games, home and away, without missing a game.
Mike’s best friend was his beloved golden retriever, Taffy. To many Ashlander’s, seeing a red scooter buzzing through town meant, “There goes Moo!” He was known by many and will be missed by all.
Mike is survived by his mother, Sylvia (Groff) Hurst; his two sisters, Mindy (Jim) Thomas and Lisa (Scott) Norris; six nieces and nephews; and many cousins.
Mike is preceded in death by his father, Clifford H. Hurst who passed away on April 7 2015.
