George L. Meyers, 87 of Ashland passed away on Thursday, February 4, 2021 in University Hospitals in Cleveland.
He was born on April 21, 1933 in Reeseville, Wisconsin to the late George and Hilda (nee Klebs) Meyers.
George married the love of his life the former, Marie Peterson on January 17, 1953. He proudly served in the United States Army National Guard for more than 20 years, having retired 1969 as a major.
George retired after 22 years as V.P. of Research and Development from the A.L. Garber Company in 2000. He was previously employed for 26 years at the American Can Company as a carton designer and later as a research associate. He holds over 100 US & Foreign patents for carton packaging.
He was a devoted member of St. Edward Catholic Church.
George is survived by three daughters, Jean (Eugene) Lauer, Susan (Scott) Albers, and Kerry (Jeff) Mowry; one son, Michael (Karla) Meyers; 10 grandchildren; Amanda, Joshua, Joanna Lauer, Kayla and Krista Meyers, Stephanie and Kevin Albers, Kaitlin, Emily, and Austin Mowry; and three great grandchildren, Liam Koza, Vincent, and Gabriella Giaquinto; four step grandchildren; 17 step great-grandchildren; and one step great-great grandchild.
In addition to his parents, George is preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Marie Meyers who passed away on July 19, 2019; two sisters, Evelyn (Swan) Omsburg and Betty (Russ) Webb; and a sister-in-law, Delores Peterson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, February 27, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Edward Catholic Church with Father Rod Kreidler officiating. Interment will follow in the Ashland Cemetery with Father Rod Kreidler officiating.
For those unable to attend, the mass will be livestreamed via St. Edward website, stedwardashland.org and their Facebook page.
