Obituary

Charles E. Ames, 83, of Ashland, passed away at his residence, early Monday morning, February 8, 2021 with his family by his side.
He was born in Ashland on July 31, 1937 to the late William Arthur and Eva (Finley) Ames and had been an Ashland resident his entire lifetime.
Charles was a member of the Ohio Army National Guard Transportation Unit 1486 based in Ashland.
He had been employed at Faultless Rubber/Abbott Labs in Ashland for over 33 years working in various positions. He retired from the maintenance department on October 31, 1994. While employed at Faultless/Abbott, Charles had served as vice president of the shop union AFL-CIO #196, served on the Faultless Fire Brigade, and the safety committee. Following his retirement, he served as president of the Faultless Retirees group.
Charles enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, traveling, and home improvement projects.
On January 18, 1964 Charles was married to Jane (Sparacio) who survives him. He is also survived by one son, Charles E. II (Lisa) Ames of Perrysburg, OH; two daughters, Rhonda Weber of Ashland and Lori (Mike) Birdsong of Lake Jackson, TX; 9 grandchildren, Nicholas, Paige and Angela Ames; Corey and Aaron Stitzel; C.J., Ryan, Austin and Levi Shaffer; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty (Mel) Sanborn of Yuma, AZ; two brothers, Richard Ames (Brenda Ferguson) and Daniel (Paula) Ames both of Ashland. Charles loved all of his in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents and a brother & sister-in-law, William Jr. and Gloria Ames.
There will be no visitation of services at this time.
A Celebration of Life will be announced by the family at a later date.

I'm sorry to read the news . My condolences to Chuck's family. I remember having many conversations with him in the halls of Faultless where we would both end up having a good belly laugh. He will be missed.

Rest in Peace Charles. We met over 70 years ago when you lived in the house on the point. You always had a smile on your face. So sorry to your family for their loss.
