Kenneth George Preston, Jr, age 88, passed away peacefully in hospice care in Akron, OH on Friday, February 19, 2021. He was born on February 16, 1933 in Ashland, OH to Kenneth G. Preston and Velda (Lutz) Preston.

Mr. Preston graduated from Ashland High School in 1951 and attended Princeton University until he was drafted and served in the Army from 1953-55, returning to graduate from Ohio State University with a degree in engineering. While working for the US Patent Office and Department of the Navy in Washington DC, he graduated from George Washington University Law School (JD). He moved to Lake County in 1964 and worked in the law offices of Hupp Corp and Eaton Corp and then served as VP, Senior Counsel and Chief Patent Counsel for TRW Inc. in Cleveland, OH. Gracious, thoughtful, kind, dedicated, knowledgeable, funny. These are some of the adjectives that describe Ken Preston. In my years working in the research office at UA, he was the "go to" man. Ken was always available to give advice, answer questions, or explain the intricacies of some contract or research agreement. I'm not surprised to read that he was working up to his final days. He was one of the most dedicated people I know. My condolences to his family. I know they and all those who worked closely with him are grieving. He was truly one of the good guys.

My sincere condolences to Ken's family. I will miss him greatly, for his kindness, his humor, his knowledge, and his guidance. I will forever hear his voice telling me to never keep records beyond the legal requirement and I smile every time I purge old files. Thank you Ken for everything!! Fly high my friend!
